Serendipity

Surly, a happy accident! I was cleaning my studio and I found several brand new XL t-shirt. And I though to myself, I should make something out of it or give it away to someone who would actually use them. I think when I first bought them, I'm sure I had a plan that I would do something with them. To make the story short, I started playing around and cutting up the t-shirt and I remember seeing someone had made a neck warmer out of them before similar to this. Well, this is my version of it, I guess. I know that my best friend who lives in NYC would love this so I'll be making more of them (different colors and materials) and also to sell them at my etsy shop. Experimental

Warning: I'm a chatter box today.

Some days, don't you feel like you must create something? Or you might bust somehow? Well... I had one of those day, today. Busy as I've always have been, I had the urge to make something, just something, anything at all, even if only take 15 mins. Fortunately, my 14 months old son was behaving and playing by himself so I totally took this opportunity and finally, I had a chance to dig into my a pile of stuff that I have been buying/collecting for my new line of stuff that I have planning to work on them for months. My newly discover talent is catering to rock n' roll, gothic, punky, daring, such as hight style culture crowds (as I stated in my last blog such as singer/actress Courtney Love).

My etsy shop http://bollinger.etsy.com.

Any how, I made two types of necklaces. One made from multiple different fiber yarns with leather closure and the other, made from scrap leathers of various shapes and colors, threaded on a cord and tide on the back. I'm super proud of them and I wanted to share this with everyone. Love to hear any input you may have and thanks for reading my blog.

How is all this begin...
I'm a bag designer on etsy for the past two years. (http://pinka.etsy,com) I make custom and one of kind bags. Recently, I sold one of my custom bag to the coolest rocker chick Courtney Love. Mrs. Love has suggested some inspiration designs and left it up to me to design the rest. Which I started to explore the whole new culture, design, style, etc... open some new doors for me to start creating this Bollinger Couture pieces. Thanks a million, Courtney, for enticing me the sparks and being my inspiration.

My partner (Yes, I found a partner in crime) and I specialize in special occasion custom one-of-a-kind clothes, bags, and accessories! We like making things we would use and wear ourselves. We love making each pieces unique as possible. We want to consider our textile pieces as art works (considering, different materials we use are different colors of paint and the under tone material is our canvas and stitches are the binder that seal the painting all together). This is a great venture of us to be able to create something we love and hope everyone love them too. So please, check out my site. It's more to come, this is just the tippy top of our adventure. If you have any suggestions or comments, we would love to hear from everyone about anything. Thanks!

Courtney Love Bag

The beginning of this year I had a custom order from Courtney Love. She suggested some colors and somethings she likes and left it up to me to design a computer/music note bag. I had to go out of my normal mode (out of the box) to design something for her. I guess you can say, she had sparked my imagination. Normally, I make bag that are more for simple and more for functionality than design and decoration. The theme is punk, Gothic, rocker, and lacey. Since then, I have came up with new product line under Bollinger Collection http://bollinger.etsy.com. Please check it out when you have a chance, love to hear some inputs. I started making cuffs, neck-lace (scarfs), and more of design the fabric with variety of embellishments. I'm working on some fun, party, going out clothing, skirts, and more accessories. Courtney Love actually bought a cuff from my new created shop too. I guess I never though I would be catering to celebrities of any sort and thanks to Mrs. Love, so happy to have found a new outlet for my creativity to flourish. I hope this somewhat encouraging to some of you. Sometime all we need is a little spark.

As in the past, we'll feature our own designers as well as lots of other artists, artisans, and crafters from around the Central Florida area. The show is timed to coincide with the popular Saleboat consignment event at the church across the street. We hope you'll stop by both!

Serendipity Square - Second Saturdays Market

Serendipity Square

Second Saturdays Market

At Misty Forest

(612 N Thornton Ave, Orlando, FL 32803)

As many of you know, Misty Forest began one year ago as a place for ideas to grow and community to gather. Starting with a few homeschool classes in the morning, we are now home to an exceptionally successful enrichment program for children of all ages and diverse familes. Our center has thrived within our community, adding two additional buildings that now offer space for theatrical and musical performances as well as hands-on experiences in the arts.

We have been blessed with community interest and support for our vision, and are now well on our way to becoming a one-stop shop for children's development and growth!

Being surrounded by businesses such as The Dandelion Communitea Cafe, The Florida School of Holistic Living, Shine on Yoga, The Little Green Spa, Evolve, The House of Health, Earthy Habitat and others, has been a tremendous blessing. Together, we have recognized our unique passions and found ways to blend our similar commitments to inspire, involve, affirm, affect, contribute and connect with all humankind.

Last spring, Misty Forest was honored to be a part of the Central Florida Earth Day Festival held on our Thornton Avenue block, to which approximately 3,000 people attended. This winter, we were equally proud to be a part of another unique community event: Homegrown for the Holidays. On December 20th, a festival like no other took place in which local artists, businesses, professionals, services, activities, crafters, retailers and well-wishers gathered to connect, network, support and celebrate this holiday season-----as only this block can do!! On this day, Misty Forest became an Enchanted Winter Wonderland: with unexpected magical winter surprises for children and parents around every corner. Kids were inspired as they engaged in self-esteem booster activities, learned to recognize and change their "thought clouds", meet the "Green Santa", create their own gifts for friends and relatives out of recycled objects, made personalized aromatherapy perfumes, mosaic art, pottery and sculpture and many other unique gifts. Well-loved and adored local musicians and childrens' entertainers were there to share and show their support for this day.

It was quite a day! And yet just another example of how much the Orlando community believes in and supports local artists, musicians and businesses.

Because no one ever wants these events to end, we've decided to make it happen again...and again...and again!

You are invited to join us on the 2nd Saturday of each month to continue to share your unique crafts, arts and talents at what will now become the only monthly arts and local business expo/market in the Mills Fifty District. The growing success of each past community event on our block shows that the seeds have been planted---now lets watch them bloom!

Misty Forest is thrilled to have Angela Ramos and Elena Kegler as coordinators for this unique event. Together, they blend their talent as artists with their extensive experience in the production and management of various well known street fairs, markets, co-ops and similar venues and events throughout the New York City and Los Angeles area. Their combined background and expertise in successfully organizing such events promises to be an incredible asset to our community.

Many of you have been invloved as vendors on our block's events. Some of you have thought about it. Most of you have heard about it. And now all of you are invited to come be come be a part of something new and exciting...

Come join Serendipity Square!
